I’m getting excited about all the apps that are letting me do things wirelessly on Android. SwiFTP made things a lot easier with its ability to set up your phone as a server that you can connect to from your PC. Today, we’ll take a look at adbWireless, which in essence does the same thing, but adds the ability to use adb wirelessly. The most important thing, for many, that this will allow you to do is remove carrier bloatware, that is, get rid of preinstalled apps. In today’s video, I’ll show you how to use adbWireless and how to remove preinstalled apps so that you can have your phone running in tip top shape. What apps will you be removing? it is saying 0.0.0.0:5555 because you are not connected to a wifi network. if you are, check your router to verify 1. ports are open and 2. that no firewall software or hardware is interfering with the connection. as far as all the issues with remounting, you must first run the “adb root” command to restart daemon w.root permissions. after that reconnect with “adb connect ip:port” once connected feel free to remount or whatever floats your boat.. but make sure depending if your rom has security enabled or not that you enable superuser in adb shell “su” before attempting to remove any apk or you will be denied permissions. hope that helps.

navigate to the correct path of your SDK, for instance mine is
      cd
      cd C:/android-sdk-windows/platform-tools/
once there run, “adb root” to restart daemon with root permission. once finished connect with adbWireless.
      “adb connect (ip:port)”

then you can run any commands check by simply running, “adb help” and that should give you some info on simple commands just like windows command prompt if you run the help command.

to verify if your connected run, “adb wait-for-device” or “adb get-serialno”
Once connected you can enter a shell using the, “adb shell” command
      then
      “su”
      “cd /system/app”
      “ls”
      “rm (name of apk).apk

    what is the sdk??

  • Easton

everything works but when i enter my IP in terminal it doesn’t say connected it says “is a directory” can you tell me what I am doing wrong

I know that this app requires super user I’m getting the same issue as a few users where even though I am connected to WiFi on the phone when I use ADB to try to connect which gives me the IP address of 0.0.0.0:5555 which obviously means that this isn’t working correctly. Does this have and Pre-Requirements like busybox or anything that certain ROMs may not come with stock?

stay tuned, as there's an easier root method I will be tutorial-ing soon :)

  • Megamustang

Im getting the same thing as you guys. I can get the “#” prompt by “su space” and can see everything but i get a “read only” response when trying to remove apk's. We will just have to wait for a response from djR3Z, who I am very thankful to for his videos on helping me root my EVO! Great Work!

Hey djR3Z check out ADB over wifi widget. I like it because you can turn it on and off right from the widget. You can also pick the port. Not sure if you can do that on the one above. Anyways awesome videos!!

I'm getting the same thing and I also get the Operation not permitted when I try to remount. It does say that it's connected though and I can look at the files..

  • Scrib4lex

i get to the # by “su space”
then go through the process you explain above… ls, and rm Sprint_NASCAR.apk

  • Scrib4lex

djR3Z! thanks for all your great videos. I am trying to remove programs via the terminal emulator. I am fully rooted (thanks to you and the guys from XDA!) but when i try and remove for example Sprint_NASCAR.apk, i get”error, read only file?” i suppose this is a technique sprint uses to make it harder to remove… any tips for this?

  • Superzorro2k

  • Zathras
