Welcome to the new site! If you’ve been with us since launch, this is the 3rd design of The Droid Demos that you’ve seen. The first one lasted all but a few days (and was just a preliminary theme until we could get v2 up and running), but you’ve most likely known nothing but v2 of the site. We liked the clean simple layout of the site, but as Android users we know you want more.
We’ve moved away from having almost the entire area above the page fold taken up by the featured stories (and videos) to a layout that shows you the latest important articles in an easy to navigate bar. We’ve also made the primary navigation bar more prominent so you can see exactly what you’re looking for right off the bat. Secondary links are displayed in a simple bar at the top so you can get to our informational pages and partners (more coming soon).
Another thing that we really wanted to improve was the social aspect of the site. We’ve added tons of options for sharing in a variety of different places so its easier for you to click and go, including the scrolling share bar as seen on sites like Mashable and Bit Rebels. And we know how much you love subscribing so there’s now a more prominent subscription box in the sidebar and footer, including the option to subscribe via email if that’s your thing.
