This guide is for unlocking the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity so you can install custom recovery and custom ROMs. Check out my guide for how to root the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity if you haven’t already.
Other manufacturers need to take a lesson from Asus. Their Transformer Pad Infinity was released just a few weeks ago, and shortly after, they relased their bootloader unlocking tool. With little more than an app download and some button clicks, you’re well on your way to unlocking the Transformer Pad Infinity.
Once you have your Pad unlocked, you’ll be able to install a custom recovery and custom ROMs. You’re probably jumping out of your seat with excitement, so let’s cut to the chase. Here is how to unlock the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T.
If you have any questions, just leave them in the comments!
Instructions
Go to the Browser on your Pad
Go to the URL http://bit.ly/InfinityUnlock and make sure to capitalize Infinity and Unlock. An apk called UnLock_Device_App_V7.apk should automatically download.
Once it is complete, click on it in the notifications drawer to start the install.
Click Install in the window that pops up.
Click Open when it is complete.
Scroll down on the EULA, check the box, and click OK.
On the Notice screen, check Agree and click the “Press to unlock your device” button.
Enter your Google password and click OK.
Your Pad will reboot. You’ll notice some new text showing up in the upper left corner as the Pad becomes unlocked and it will then reboot into Android.
Congratulations on unlocking your Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T!

Same “Network Error” as so many others. Here and on XDA as well. Sigh!
I just get “unknown network error” ?? I am on ICS, because the damn thing can’t find the OTA update for Jelly bean for some reason. Is there another way to unlock the bootloader ?

I can verify that this works on 4.1.1 as well. I just did it.

Thanks Brett. W/o your videos I would be lost in the world of unlocking and rooting my infinity pad. I just want to dump all the bloatware, especially since all my apps seem to running in the background all the time…thanks again and I WILL donate thru PayPal soon.

keep getting the error: Unfortunately, DMClient has stopped

I’ve got JB installed – is it necessary to return to factory settings before unlocking? Does that then mean I’m stuck with ICS forever or can I upgrade back to JB after unlocking and rooting?

it’s possible to unlock this tablet with JB already installed? Official Asus Tool works ONLY on ICS …

I got here thinking unlocking meant I could boot from a stick… which is (I think) what I want to do. any suggestion how to do that for someone mostly unfamiliar with command-line? I want to know if I can either partition an infinity, or boot it from a card or stick and run bodhi linux or ubuntu 10 on it without loosing ability to get android updates and just run the android (sometimes), and the linux sometimes. I’d really appreciate any direction = )

Why does this tool require your Google password?
Does this have any advantages over the Asus-supplied bootloader unlock tool?

This is the Asus tool.

Brent, you first show rooting and then unlocking. Must you do both in that order or can you just unlock
http://thedroiddemos.com Brent Klauck (djR3Z)
You can do either of them or both of them, in whatever order you want.

What is the advantage of doing both?

Rooting gives you access to root apps. Unlocking allows you to install custom ROMs.

What’s the main advantage to custom ROMs? Overclocking? Is it just to make the pad faster? Any tutorials on this? Pros v. Cons?
